What Is The Right Weight For My Height And Age?
People come in many different shapes and sizes. Because of the diversity of how people weigh all over the world, it is quite hard to determine whether you are healthy or not. There are many determinants of what a person’s ideal weight should be. Some of these determinants are age, gender, any special health condition, height and many more. Your weight is directly proportional to your age. The older you get, the heavier you get as well. That idea is quite simple to understand. The more complicated process is, knowing what the right weight for your height is.
You will be able to determine if you are at a normal weight through your body mass index or BMI. It is important that you know your BMI so that you can do something about being overweight or underweight. Underweight, overweight and obese people can suffer from different kinds of diseases like heart disease, diabetes and malnutrition. Improving your weight is improving your overall health.

Your body mass index is measured by the relationship of your weight and height. There is a different chart for babies to teenagers and a different chart for adults. For example, if you are a female and 5 feet 3 inches tall, your lowest possible weight should be 111 pounds. If you go lower than that, you are considered underweight. Your highest possible weight is 148 pounds, if you go slightly over that, you are considered overweight. If you go way over 148 pounds then you are considered obese.

If you are male and is 5 feet 7 inches tall, your lowest possible weight is 135 pounds and your highest possible weight is 167 pounds to be considered as a part of the normal weight bracket. There are numerous BMI calculators that you can find online where you simply need to input your weight in pounds and your height in feet and inches. Once you enter that information you will be provided with a number which will be equivalent to your BMI, from there, you will be able to determine if you need to gain weight or lose weight.

BMI has its limits. For example, athletes weigh a lot because of muscle mass and not fat. So even if they get a high BMI, it does not mean that they are overweight or obese. This just simply means that their weight is mostly from their dense muscles and not from their body fat. If you are an athlete like me and want to measure your body fat, you can try other ways on how to do that. You can do underwater weighing or bioelectrical impedance.
It is immensely important that you know how much you weigh because of certain risk factors. There are many things that could’ve caused you to weigh too little or too much. These habits could eventually cause you your health or, worse, your life. Once you establish your BMI, make sure that you visit your doctor so you can get a full assessment and get recommendations for a healthy weight loss or weight gain plan. If you do not take action immediately, your weight could lead to hypertension, heart disease, high blood glucose, diabetes, malnutrition and many more.
The secret to getting a healthy weight is starting today. A simple 5 or 10 pounds is already a jump start. Find out what your Body Mass Index is today and live a healthier and a happier lifestyle.
