If you’re looking to lose weight it is not always essential that you sign up to a gym. There are plenty of exercises that you can do in your own home if you want to take off some of the pounds. For people who are signed up to a gym it can also be a good idea to supplement your workout from the gym with some basic exercises at home. Some at home exercises to lose weight require equipment but most just require your dedication. Others require just a few basic bits of gear.

Without Equipment

It might seem unusual to suggest jogging in place because most people can easily get outside to go for a run and enjoy some fresh air. However, anyone who has gone running in the middle of winter knows that it is hardly an enjoyable activity and many people find it difficult to leave the house in the colder months. Therefore putting on a pair of gym shoes and working out in the warmth of your home can be a good alternative and jogging in place is almost as beneficial as the regular kind.

Doing jumping jacks will probably remind you of being a kid but just because the exercise has a childish nature that does not mean it is not effective. You might remember the exercise being very easy as a child that now that you are an adult you will properly find it much more challenging and it will exhaust you quite quickly. Using your legs to lift your entire body weight repeatedly can be an intensive exercise and burns plenty of calories.

With Basic Equipment

If you are willing to spend a few pounds on at home exercises to lose weight then there is some really simple stuff you can buy to get a good exercise at home. Buying a step is one of the most useful pieces of equipment as it allows you to exercise one of the largest muscle groups in your legs and by doing this you are burning many calories. There are also plenty of exercise DVDs to go along with a step and you will find these are very effective and motivating form of exercise.

A set of adjustable free weights can also be useful as these can add some intensity to cardio exercise that you do with a step and can also help you tone your muscles. A skipping rope is another great investment as it only costs a few pounds and will allow you to burn a great many calories.

Splashing Out Equipment

If you’re willing to drop some serious money on gym equipment then you will be able to do at home exercises to lose weight the same as you could at the gym. Popular machines people have in their homes include elliptical trainers and exercise bikes.

If you are looking to lose weight at home there are plenty of options and some of these don’t require any capital. If you’re willing to spend some money though, you can find yourself with some serious calorie burning equipment.
