While the kettlebell has been around for a long time, it has become trendy again recently. It must be said that it is indeed a good and effective piece of equipment to use for training. If you know how to use it optimally, a kettlebell workout could be all you need to lose weight and feel great in your mind and body. The look of the kettlebell itself is not very impressive; cause let’s face it, it’s just a lump of cast iron with a handle on, covered in a layer of paint…quite humble you must be thinking! Well yes, humble maybe but effective!

For centuries, people have used this simple yet great equipment, with reason, to exercise their whole body and look great. If we compare the way you hold and lift a dumbbell and a kettlebell, you will see that the way you have to grip the handles on the kettlebell will challenge your core muscles more than would the dumbbell. This makes your muscles become strong and sculptured but not simply bulky for the sake of show.

Good Kettlebell Workout for Beginners

If you are already training and have a specific routine, what you could do is to cut some of your usual exercise and fit in some that make use of the kettlebell. The kettlebell overhead press is a good one to start with and include in your routine. Begin by picking the kettlebell up and holding it close to your body. Keep your wrists as straight as you possibly can and ensure that the kettlebell lies in the space between your biceps and your forearm. Gripping the handle well drive the equipment overhead until it is behind your shoulder. Then bring back the kettlebell in the original position.

Here is another exercise that you can include in your kettlebell workout programme; kettlebell front squats. How to do it? Simple! Just grab a kettlebell or two and bring the kettlebells near the body as for the previous exercise. Lower your upper body, flexing your knees and keeping your spine straight as much as you can. Then go back to the original position slowly.

A Kettlebell Exercise for Beginners and Experienced Bodybuilders

Standing in front of a bench, stand with your feet about a foot apart and with the kettlebell resting between your feet. Now place a hand on the bench and grand the kettlebell with your other hand and bring it up at the level of your hips. While your arm is moving, the rest of your body should move as little as possible. This is called the renegade rowing.

A kettlebell workout can be one of the most complete set of exercises to work the whole body with minimal equipment. There are different sizes of kettlebells but you do not need to have a whole range so that you can achieve a good workout. There are many reasons to use a kettlebell and they include the effectiveness of this piece of equipment, the fact that it is fun to exercise with plus you can easily proceed to a whole body workout just using the kettlebell.
