Is There Any Useful Exercise To Lose Weight At Home?
The answer is of course a loud YES! By useful, I mean exercises done at home that indeed make you shed those pounds. These exercises will not take-up lots of your time too and will not require complicated equipment to accomplish.
So where to begin? To start with, a weight loss exercise routine even if done at home should be balanced. By balanced, it should have aerobic/cardio, strength training, core exercises, some balance training and some stretching flexibility exercises. Incorporating these five will give us an overall fitness program that will really work.
Here are those useful exercises I am talking about:
Jogging In Place
This is a cardio exercise that is both simple and useful. You can vary the speed; raise your legs higher to increase the intensity. This is also a good warm-up exercise.
Climbing Stairs
Who says only kids find this useful and fun? Another very useful cardio home exercise that will challenge your breathing. Begin by warming-up at the bottom of the stairs; walk in place for at least 10 minutes. Work your way up to not more than 10 flights of stairs and come down making sure your foot lands firmly and safely in each step. Once you get comfortable, speed it up or increase the number of steps.
Crunches
An excellent core exercise that targets the abdomen and the hips. There are many variations to this like side crunch and crunches with an exercise ball.
Lunges
This targets the core muscles in the butt area. It is very simple and comes with lots of variations. You can do side lunges or combine with them with free weights.
Exercises Using Free Weights
Part of strength training, these exercises include the biceps and triceps curls using dumbbells and weight lifting using barbells. Don’t despair, if you find barbells too scary like I do, you can choose to do strength training using your own body weight for resistance. Classic examples for this are pull-ups, sit-ups and leg squats.
Standing On One Leg
Now for a bit of gentle balance training, standing on one leg is often done at the end of any cardio or combination of intense exercises. Very easy and reassures you that you have not lost your footing after all those muscle-crunching, heart-pumping exercises.
Stretching
One of the most natural human reflex, don’t you just love a good stretch after working-out? Experts advise to do stretching on warmed-up muscles. This means doing stretches after a workout and not before when muscles are still cold.
Knowing all of these useful home exercises for losing weight is useless if you cannot summon the courage or the time to do them, right? But hey, seeking knowledge is one big step. Good for you!
