Is Shredded Wheat Good For You When You Are Trying To Lose Weight?

Eating the right food is essential to people who are trying to lose weight. No matter how much you work out, if you do not modify your diet in order to complement your weight loss plan, then you won’t be able to lose a significant amount of body fat. There are a lot of products out in the market that will provide us with better health benefits and will aid us in weight loss. I was able to stumble on a product I really loved. It is called Shredded Wheat Cereal. I’ve been having this for breakfast for almost 4 months already and I’ve already lost a significant amount of weight.

Shredded wheat contains a significant amount of fiber. Fiber is needed to avoid constipation and help in digestion. Fiber is essential in any weight loss program. One serving of shredded wheat contains 1 gram of soluble fiber and 5 grams of insoluble fiber. The soluble fiber found in shredded wheat will lower down your body’s “bad” cholesterol level. 5 grams is of soluble fiber a day is already enough to significantly lower down your “bad” cholesterol level.

Prevents Heart Disease

Your cardiovascular health should be your top priority when you are trying to lose weight. Cardio exercises will make you burn ample amounts of calories in just one session. By reducing cholesterol, shredded wheat will be able to make your heart healthier and work better during a workout.

Makes You Feel Full

Insoluble fiber has the power to make you feel fuller and sooner so you don’t overeat. Controlling your appetite is immensely important that is why you need to make sure that you do not consume more calories than you can burn. A serving of shredded wheat contains up to 47 grams of whole grains – the most nutritious of all grains. Also, you will be very pleased to find out that one serving of shredded wheat only contains 160 calories. Perfect for a diet!

Comes In Different Varieties

Just like other breakfast cereals, shredded wheat comes in different varieties so you don’t get tired of eating the same thing every day. Small sized bites can be added to milk or eaten as is. There are also biscuit sized varieties that you can heat and eat warm. I, personally, love that variety because it is really moist and it tastes better when heated. There are lightly frosted varieties which you do not have to be paranoid about because one cup of lightly frosted shredded wheat contains only 180 grams of calories. There is also honey nut and almond vanilla shredded wheat which contains 190 calories per cup as well. To make it even healthier, complement it with fruits like oranges, berries, strawberries or bananas. This way, you get your daily dose of vitamin C as well.

Shredded wheat is one of the best discoveries I’ve made in my whole life. There are many varieties offered, it does not cost more than your regular cereal, it is easy to prepare and everyone in the family will enjoy it. Not to mention the numerous benefits it gives.
