How To Get Into The American Academy Of Personal Training
The American Academy is a private institution in Boston and New York, well recognized for its concentrated and pioneering approach towards physical fitness, training education and professional certification.
Harry Hanson found the American Academy to inspire and instigate a change in the fitness industry. The limited scope of options for professional education in this area is something the Academy hopes to target by combining theoretical classroom education with practical coursework.
Objectives
The American Academy of Personal Training in its mission statement enforces the need for hands on learning and experience through which the required abilities, knowledge and confidence can be inspired and brought about. The academy serves as the launching pad for all young individuals hoping to make a mark in the personal fitness trainer industry. Being the only accredited program, it is a recognized degree for personal trainers. The career prospects are quite bright and extensive, which makes the Academy an even more alluring prospect.
Admission Criteria
The admission requirements are not intricate or difficult by any stretch of the imagination. I found the lax admission criteria to be a huge positive, as anybody hoping to inculcate a positive physical fitness change in life is allowed to do so and subsequently make a career out of it. Perhaps, in my opinion, the most important criterion for admission is the passion for personal fitness training and the commitment that one can promise to the field itself.
In terms of tangible requirements, the American Academy of Personal Training requires you to be over the age of 18. They also require that you either have a high school diploma or certification of an educational equivalent. For each of the aforementioned requirements, they require only one document as proof. The enrollment fee is not remarkably excessive, especially considering how the American Academy is a nationally accredited and certified institution.
However, to ease access to admission, there is also a financial aid program offered by the American Academy. Needless to say, the training institution is open to anyone who has a genuine interest in the art of personal training. It is one of the best ways to get started as a personal fitness trainer, especially because of the program’s solid accreditation and its focus on the theoretical and practical aspects of training.
The crucial bit is not getting into the American Academy, according to me, for the requirements are really lax and the program is for anybody willing to put in a concerted effort; it is sustaining a place and making it through the program that is more of a challenge.
